Fire Station #2 in Columbus, GA
The original Fire Station #2 was constructed in the late 1800’s. This is the 5th rebuild that has been done; and although the location has changed due to population and size increase, the fireman that man the station are as dedicated, noble and as loyal to the community as the first crew that ever occupied the fire house.
The building is 8,500 square feet and constructed of filled CMU block with brick veneer exterior and a metal standing seam roof. The interior walls were Epoxy painted, 6” painted base, and stained concrete floors for lower maintenance. The apparatus bay is a 3 bay drive though. There are 7 dorms, an exercise room, a classroom, 2 full shower/baths and 1 half bath, an office, a clean-up room, a maintenance room, and a dayroom/kitchen area with top notch appliances.

This particular building was designed and constructed as a hurricane shelter for the City of Columbus. This required the addition of several elements including the breathing air system which allows the station to maintain their own oxygen tanks as well as surrounding stations. Also installed was a back up generator capable of producing just under 2 million BTUs and runs 130KW.
Fire Station #2 was completed late 2010, and should accommodate the firemen very comfortably for many, many years to come.
Moultrie Technical College in Tifton, GA
Moultrie Technical College (MTC) Tifton Campus was established in the fall of 1988. When built, it was a total of 32,000 sf and an additional 60,000 sf was added in 2002. The last addition to the campus was the 14,000 sf Fire Science Building which was constructed by Advanced Systems, Inc. We broke ground on the project in July of 2009; and even with the record rainfall that year, the project was completed 8 weeks ahead of schedule to the delight of the college.
The Fire Science Building is unique in that it is a non combustible building and the only one of its kind in the state.
It is constructed of light gauge steel with masonry veneer; and sits on ¾ of an acre. The storage rooms were built to be fire containment rooms due to the chemicles used in the classrooms and laboratories.
The Fire Science technology program offers training for firefighters in hazardous materials, fire fighting tactics and strategies, arson investigation, incident command, fire service hydraulics; and emergency service fundamentals.
Members of local fire departments in southwest Georgia come to MTC’s Tifton Campus to learn new skills and to become higher level firefighters as well as fire officers.
The building houses six classrooms, a student center and the college’s maintenance shop.
6,200 sf tenant white box build out of an Aaron's Sales and Lease. We built two offices, wing walls, security room, break room and an 80' soffit. We installed all of the flooring and Aaron's fixtures.
We had the privlege of renovating the exterior of the Governor's Mansion on West Paces Ferry in Atlanta, GA, this year. The work included stripping the beautiful columns along the front of the Governor's home, prepping the surface and re-painting. All the window and building trim had to be similarly handled.
Ground-up construction of office/warehouse. Iron structure with split faced CMU’s. The interior is light gauge metal frame and drywall. It is 7,000 square feet, 1 story, and sits on 1.2 acres. Project included landscaping and parking areas.

A very special project was the exterior renovation of Rain's Hall at Augusta State University. Built in 1829, the building was the original home of the second in command of the Augusta Arsenal. In 1973 it was named for Lt. Col. George Washington Rains, who was the commander of the arsenal under the Confederacy. It now serves as the office of the University President. The roof above the second story porch was failing and needed to be rebuilt. There was extensive re-painting, lead and asbestos abatement, and new custom storm windows. All had to be done, while maintaining the historical character of the structure.
